JOURNAL ENTRY
Right when I got to the club I got driections to a far off Guitar Center.
Grant (bass in F.G.C.) went with me to repace a mic stand the I idiodically
broke of Eric (Theramin/Vocals in F.G.C.) After we picked it up I got
a box from a nere bye store and put the mic stand in with some of it sticking
out of the the side. Then at Hallmark I got him a ard, wrapped the gift,
filled it with tissue, and tapped a ballon to it. Then back to the club
to appoigise and present the gift to Eric. Everything was forgive, we
hugged and the national anthem played softly in the back ground. Tour Update 8/19/00 Emergency evacuation of the room! We departed just a little early from our hotel due to our toilet mimicking niagra falls. So after our small flood, we said bye to johnny hotpants and headed for the gateway to the west. We arrived in St.Louis about 5 hours after departure and decided it would be a great idea to kill an hour at the St.Louis Arch. It looks so small from the highway but when your under it, itís a whole new ballgame. we hung out in the museam, for a while and unfortunately couldít take the tram to the top due to time restrictions. What was most memorable was when we realized we only had 1 picture left on the film, and we wanted all of us with a view of the whole arch behind us. It was great trying to position this shot. Rogan was lying down on the sidewalk while the rest of us posed their waiting. But we couldnít take the group shot without him, and the camera would need to float steadily in mid air to get the shot. One brilliant idea was to ask someone to take it for us. But there was nobody willing to lie on the pavement to do so for us. We stacked wallets, and then shoes planning to use the timer, but neither would hold.with the camera. So our final option was to sucker someone into taking it for us. We posed once again and a french guy came up and asked if he could help us we gladly accepted, told him the stipulations, and the deed was done. I really doubt it will come out the way Rogan imagined. But we had a lot of laughs anyway. The club was down the street from there and we drove over. FGC was there watching CKY2K when we arrived. I set up the merch and went on to my daily task of tagging everything in sight, and wallpapering the place with our stickers. Florez
OK here we are waking up early to an impatient
housekeeper at the motel 6 (we forgot to put the do not distrurb sign
on the door so they were knocking all morning) FGC left about a hour before
us so we had to get going quick. We met up with johnny hotpants again,
(FIH street team) he was going to follow us to memphis! We headed out
for a long drive after smoothies and bagels for breakfast, and arrived
hours later at ìthe last place on earthî right smack in the memphis ghetto.
A pretty metal looking club (cannibal corpse had flyers there for their
upcoming show) with an abandoned car in the back lot. So immediately after
exiting the van we all jump on the car and start kicking, punching, smashing,
and breaking everything that was left on the car. (donít worry we didnít
start this, the windows were already smashed and most of the remains were
already destroyed. Dave tried to smash a mirror off with Eric FGCís mic
stand. Lets just say the car won that battle. it was hard dragging ourselves
from the car but we went in to play a rockiní show, while I was tagging
everything I possibly could within the club. I killed 2 markers, and used
around 100 stickers in this place. The show was great with kids freaking
out for us it was great. And just when we were about to pull away from
the club I discovered a can of spray paint and we tagged every available
inch of that beat up car. (weíll post pictures when they get developed.)
Tour Update 8/17/00
SEAN P. ROGANíS BIRTHDAY What better way to spend my birthday than with
First Grade Crush and the Big D crew? The show was another fun one, too!
The stage was very uneven, I think it was because Steve broke it last
time we played there! We also saw some cool stuff in Hotlanta. Ted Turner
field, home of the Atlanta Braves, was my personal favorite. After hanging
out in the city and playing the show, Motel 6 was the site ofÖwell, weíll
just say the site of ìfunî. A good time was had by all. Some good friends
from Boston hung out with us too. Thanks Aaron, Sharon and Klaus. Well, we all went to the beach with First Grade
Crush. Now, that means 16 white ass dudes hitting the beach in big shorts,
and black shirts in hand. We swam, we dove, 6 of the Big D dudes did their
synchronized swimming routine. The water was so goodÖÖÖwait Iíll stop
talking about that yaíll might get mad. So, Iíll tell you that Paul is
SOOOOOO FUCK'N SUNBURNED. I feel for him, red , red, red. The salt water
was good for all our show wounds. So, hmmmmmmmm four days till weíre home.
Donít forget to vote for us on the Too-Hep Metalliska poll (www.toohep.com),
we would appreciate it. We went in a music store with F.G.C. and caused
so much trouble. Now weíre off to Tampa, then a 10 hour drive to Atlanta.
Ok, ok, ok talk to you later. Tour Update 8/15/00
We played at the Light Painter in Sarasota FL.
Very, very fun, First Grade Crush rocked. We had some old Big D fans show
up and met some other cool people. Dawn, a bad ass from the area brought
us to the beach after and we all swam in the Gulf Of Mexico. It was so
good, the water was warm, we were the only ones on the beach, and the
moon rocked. However, Rogan stole my shorts while I was in the water.
Ya see, I ripped them off, wanting to swim naked in the warm Florida Ocean
(donít worry Iím just getting weird), anyway when I left my shorts floating
behind me Rogan stole them. I figured they sank and continued swimming.
However, when the swim was over I, welllllllll gave the palm trees an
eyeful. Back at the hotel we hung out and watched Animal Planet, ahhhhhhhh
rest. Tour Update 8/14/00
WAKE UP
---------- GO-CARTS - GO-CARTS-GO-CARTS - Tour Update 8/13/00
Ok!!! Today we played in Gainesville, FL at the
Purple Porpoise, right next to the-no kidding-the Lavender Mullet Bar.
That makes Florida the official Mullet Capital of the World . . . weíre
still looking for the Dirt Lip Capital . Tour Update 8/12/00 Tour Update 8/11/00
Still in HoustonÖstill hot. More good food from
the Creek Johnson family was eaten by all. Weíre heading to Bourbon Street
in New Orleans tonight. We have the night off so weíre going to hang out
with First Grade Crush and take over the streets of New Orleans! Itís
about 7 hours to Louisiana and then another 5 or so to FloridaÖthanks
Felcamp! A drive from Boston to Northampton sounds nice rightabout
now.
p.s. - The show at the Oven was cool, it was
small and HOT. Chris from F.G.C. requested Apology and during the mayhem
the bartender jumped the bar and grabbed Jeff ( trumpet in F.G.C. ) and
tried to throw him out. Music stopped and the bartender we told to Caaalllm
Down. It was funny. We also hung with Scott from Missile Command. I think
weíre on 3 or 4 hotel rooms now that are completely trashed and I have
all these cuts and bruises that I think might have been from leaping off
Grantís ( trombone in F.G.C.) shoulders on to the the T.V. / bureau of
the last hotel. The bureau was full of shit, cans, bottles, and more,
fun, fun, fun. Anyway, Texas, YA itís a real cool place . . . Punk-rockers
and cowboys, how can you go wrong?
Were we glad to get to Houston! We got to stay with the most wonderful Sinclair family! For those of you familiar with Drexel, The Sinclairís are Creek Johnsons parents and boy are they some of the most wonderful people we have ever encountered in our lives. We didnít have a show today but thatís ok because Mrs. Sinclair made us Fajitas and let us swim in the pool and all sorts of wild crazy stuff. She bet Jason $20 he couldnít figure out how to turn on the tv, but that Jason is one smart cookie, and he sure enough figured it out. Props Jason! We also ate some of the best cake we had ever tasted. Iíll post the recipe later on. After the feasting we all piled into bed for some well deserved rest. More to come!
Anyway, back to the rock. We played at a place called the Ridglea theatre, it was awesome. We played with a band called Whereís Arnie, they rocked. The theatre was awesome because they projected big pictures behind us when we played. They put up a giant moon behind us and it looked like big d made some crazy moon landing. Dave kept making shadow puppets between songs, the kid is talented, let me tell you. The show was great and the kids were awesome. Flores got a texas haircut while we were there. Paul had been raving about them ever since arizona, but Flores didnít seem to think it was all that and a bag of chips. Other highlights of the evening included my victory over bush in a game of pool and Grant of FGCís almost victory over Stoppelman. Over all the evening was a success so we piled in the van for the 10 hour drive to Houston, thanks felkamp.
Greetings! after mesa arizona, we charged ahead into more desert towards Albequerque, New Mexico. Having been reunited with First Grade Crush, we were all in high spirits and ready to attack the southwest with much fury. The drives have been crazy, thanks felkamp, and there is a phenomenon I would like to discuss, not to get off the subject of rock, but check this out. There are 9 people in the van, 9. Thatís a lot of people. you would think that out of 9 people at least one person would have the courtesy to relieve the driver since it is 3a.m. and the driver deserves a break. This never happens. What happens is this. We all pretend that we are asleep, have no idea that we stopped and hardly EVER volunteer to drive until we realize that if no one drives, we arenít going to go anywhere and be stuck at a really sketchy truck stop for a few hours. This is usually when someone pipes up and says *%@(, Iíll drive. So tonight we played a place called the cellar on the university of new mexico campus. Pre show highlights include Dan getting busted for skateboarding and having the campus cop threaten to call his parents to come pick him up, and Eric from FGC letting me play with his theremin, which is a crazy instrument that you should all check out if you havenít heard of it already. FGC played incredibly, like the madmen they are, including a new trumpet player and drummer, Jeff and Kurt respectively. We played our rock n roll, cheered on by flores and the FGC posse, then piled in the van for the 10 hour drive to FT. Worth, thanks felkamp.
Mesa, Arizona...Desert...Hot.
Ok, well not much happened this day we played a coffee shop and began another million hour drive back to L.A.. We dropped off Jade (She Wonít - Vocals) around 4:00am, and then headed towards Phoenix.
Night time
Weíve been San Joseíd second day in a row. After a nice stay at my brotherís apartment I was reunited with the rest of big d. My bro and I went to Fryís electronics (the computer store of computer stores!!!!!!) to get the right adapter for our digital camera to give you guys updated tour pictures, but we had no luck so far. Afterwards we drove to the Asian Man Office A.K.A. Mikeís garage. From there we kidnapped Mike, Steve Chinkees and Steve Link 80 and went to Taco Bravo for a most delicious meal. Back at Skipperís house now everyone been swimming, jumping off the roof into the pool, swimming, more jumping and a little jumping. We are departing for the show soon. Bush is the official winner of the ping pong tournament beating every single opponent with a shut out. He even beat me with his eyes closed for the entire game. Our show tonight was awesome. The Asian Man crew came out to support us as did our families and friends. Cassie and Ann from western Mass, our friend Keith from Florida and Enrique from Boston all gave us surprise visits. It was great to see so many people from across the country at our show. We played with two great bands Corrosive 8 and Short round.
After the show we packed up the van and split town for Vacaville, CA,
home of Christopher Bush and family. After being attacked by Sugar, the
vicious watch dog we all fell asleep. That wraps up our experience today.
Donít forget to catch up with us tomorrow.
Hello Everyone,
Hey, hey everyone, After that most of the guys crashed, some stayed awake in the AMAZING hotel 6 (acctually a piece of crap room). Jason and myself went to talk to some truckies that were hanging out. We shot the shit, showed tatoos and discused how much a kick ass cab would cost. Now, did you know that for $200,000 you can have a cab (Truckerís cab) with a T.V., VCR, sink, shower, kitchen, washer and dryer, and more more more. Pretty crazy huhÖÖÖÖÖ.Our friend Tom had some of those extras in his truck and also drives a two rig. Now ,thatís two trailors, I can barrly back up the van with the trailor. Around 3:00am Jason and I noticed a mountain behide the hotel, itís a platoe or butte. (a buttes are those mountains in cowboy and indian movie) The Buttle was real big, we climed and climed and finally got to the top. The view looked out so far over Wyoming, it was extremly beautiful. The moon was crescent orange and the only thing we could hear were crickets. Jason and I sat on a small overhang at the top of the buttle, it hung over the most amazing view. Later that morning, we went to a Firework store, called ìJolly Jacksî. We all bought some, later youíll hear something bad Iím sure. Anyway, when we got to our show in Ogedn Utah there were about 7 men outside trying to shut the show down. After some time the show was cancelled, something about the niebors and wo dudes that were living in the venue were being evicted so there was to be ìNO SHOWî. People showed up though, so we hung out talked about everything. Later John and Luke brought some food by, actually two six foot subs, chips, and sodas. John and Luke set up the show, and hey THANKS FOR THE FOOD it realy helps. I was inpressed with everyone there, they stuck around and a lot of people new Fork In Hand and the bands on the lable. In all EVERYONE there real cool, real cool. Now weíre headind tword L.A., weíll get there about 10:00am. When we get there weíll sleep at Steveís parents. Weíll also see Jade there, she oviosly is the girl on the song, ìSHE WONíT EVER FIGURE IT OUTî.So bye for nowÖÖÖ..and thanks to the store cleck in Wyoning and everyone in Ogedn Utah. Dave
Hey, hey everyone,
DRIVING - listen to music, talk about where weíre going, drooling EAT - weird place in Nebraska
DRIVING
HOURS as of July 31st - Aug. 1st
Hey, hey everyone,
On the 29th Big D played an insane show at the Fireside Bowl in Chicago with The Sellouts, River City Rebels, Entertainment and First Grade Crush. The show was CRAZY, everyone was nuts, and the girls were awesome. ERIC (theremin/vocals) from First Grade Crush had a party afterwards that left many us waking up sprawled out on the kitchen floor or sleeping in closets. Ericís house is always big fun and big trouble at the same time. The next morning Steve got a new Tattoo, Chris and Paul accidentally went to a baseball game and the rest of us watched Animal Planet, our channel of choice out on the road. Later, FGC, Sellouts, and Big D played a great show at The Corral just outside of Chicago in Western Springs. Water--like always--spilled everywhere and we all CRASHED and CRASHED and CRASHED the whole set. We had a blast, though, and sold tons of naked pictures of Bush. THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO WENT TO BOTH SHOWS, WE REALLY APPRECIATE IT!!! That night, the SELLOUTS and BIG D--17 of us in all--stayed in two smmmaaaaalllll single motel rooms. Again, it always ROCKS when we get to hang out with the SELLOUTS. Even though we had two rooms we all partied in one room and had to stack all the furniture to fit us all. Today, MONDAY the 31st, weíre starting our drive to Utah. Weíll be in Ogden on Wed. for our next show. So thatís all for now. THANKS EVERYONE in Chicago from Big D and The Kids Table and The Sellouts: Dave
Hey, hey everyone, Well, Day One and Day Two of Big D and The Kids Tableís July - August tour has been nothing but GOOD OLD TROUBLE. This morning before Marc was fully awake Steve shaved him up a red (D.R.I./Suicidal Tendencies) MO-HAWK. So far weíve driven 18 hours, to play at The Intersection in Grand Rapids Michigan. The bill is Big D and The Kids Table, First Grade Crush, and Mustard Plug, should be good. The tour has had one draw back - Steve has been crying for his mother continuously and Paul has been screaming for his ìblankieî. However, donít worry weíll have them smiling soon. Last night we got a one person room at some SHITTY hotel called TALLYHO-tel. We snuck all 9 of us in the shit box, and had to stack all the furniture on the TV and bureau just to make room. AHHH, we just saw a sign for Fireworks and everyoneís pooling their money together, youíll probably see a later update of one of us in jail for arson or learning to get by with 7 fingers. OK, OK I guess that is all for the dayÖÖÖ.talk to you tomorrow Dave Hey everybody, here's what's new... We
are also playing a Free show in Boston on We're getting excited about our upcoming summer tour with our friend First Grade Crush.
